Shopify in Ukraine or Turboshop (and what about WooCommerce and OpenCart)

We at Turboshop compared Shopify in Ukraine with our own platform honestly: euro plans versus a hryvnia subscription, Nova Poshta and marketplaces out of the box versus third-party apps, B2B, inventory, migration. Plus a separate look at what the “free” WooCommerce and OpenCart really cost in total.

Short answer. Turboshop and Shopify are both subscription platforms where hosting, SSL and updates are handled for you. We recommend Turboshop if you sell in Ukraine: Nova Poshta, Ukrainian payments, Prom and Rozetka, B2B and inventory are already part of a hryvnia subscription. Shopify is the choice if you are building a global D2C brand across several countries and your team already knows its ecosystem. WooCommerce and OpenCart are free only as code: hosting, security and a developer are on you.

You are choosing a platform for your store and you are afraid of getting it wrong — rightly so. A mistake here does not cost a monthly fee, it costs a move: transferring the catalogue, new page addresses, a drop in search rankings, weeks spent reconnecting shipping and payments. We keep seeing the query “Shopify in Ukraine” in search, so we decided to answer it honestly, as the Turboshop team: where Shopify is genuinely stronger, where we are, and why we made the decisions we made.

Prices and features were verified on the public pricing pages in September 2026; they can change, and before updating this article we re-check the sources listed at the end. Shopify shows prices in the currency of the region the page is opened from; we captured them in euros.

Which is better value: plan by plan

We deliberately do not convert euros into hryvnias at the exchange rate: it changes daily, and your real spend changes with it. That is the first argument for a hryvnia subscription: your platform budget is known a year ahead and does not depend on the rate. Here are the plan pairs billed annually:

  • Starting out. Turboshop Basic — 250 UAH/month (3,000 UAH/year) versus Shopify Basic — €19/month annually or €27 monthly. Turboshop Basic includes up to 500 products, your own domain, hosting, SSL, backups and support.
  • Growing. Turboshop Standart — 694 UAH/month annually (8,328 UAH, 15% less than 816 UAH monthly) versus Shopify Grow — €56/month annually (€74 monthly). Standart already includes feeds to Prom, Rozetka, Kasta and Epicentr, multiple languages and KeyCRM — the things you pay separate apps for on Shopify.
  • Scaling. Turboshop Pro — 1,469 UAH/month annually (17,628 UAH) versus Shopify Advanced — €289/month annually (€384 monthly). Pro gives you unlimited products, API, webhooks and TurboSklad inventory management.
  • Enterprise level. Turboshop Turbo — 2,938 UAH/month annually (35,256 UAH) with a B2B portal, AI agents, 1C integration, multi-warehouse and turnkey migration versus Shopify Plus — from €2,100/month.

On top of the Shopify subscription add the payment and app fees mentioned separately on the pricing page, plus marketplace sync: above 50 orders a month — 1%, up to 99 USD/month. On Turboshop the platform commission is 0% and marketplaces are part of the plan from Standart. That is how we designed the pricing: you pay for a subscription, not for every successful sale — and the more you sell, the bigger that difference becomes.

What about WooCommerce or OpenCart?

The question “Shopify vs WooCommerce” in Ukraine almost always means “free code or a ready-made platform”. WooCommerce is a free plugin for WordPress, OpenCart is a free CMS. But only the licence is free. Everything that is part of the subscription on Turboshop and Shopify becomes your responsibility or a developer invoice on WooCommerce and OpenCart. We deliberately give no hosting figures — they depend on the provider and the load; what matters is the list of costs people forget to count:

Cost itemTurboshopShopifyWooCommerce / OpenCart

HostingIn the planIn the subscriptionSeparate: you choose and pay for it

Technical support9:00–21:00 in the planUnder Shopify termsCommunity or a paid contractor

“OpenCart vs WooCommerce” is really a question about your team: both systems are free and work on the same principle, so pick the one your developer already knows. But first count the total cost of ownership per year honestly: hosting, extensions, developer hours and your own time spent on “why did the site go down after the update”. If that sum is no smaller than a subscription, the “free” loses its point. Where WooCommerce and OpenCart genuinely win is full access to the code and custom logic that no subscription platform offers.

When Shopify is the better choice

We will not claim that Turboshop suits everyone. Shopify is the right choice if:

  • you are building a global D2C brand and sell in several countries — currencies, taxes and shipping across regions are business as usual for Shopify;
  • your team already knows Shopify: marketers, contractors, theme developers — retraining costs more than the difference in subscription;
  • you need a huge app store: there is a ready solution for almost any task, even if it comes at an extra charge;
  • part of your sales is offline in several countries and you need a single POS (on Shopify — POS Pro, +€79/month per location).

The key condition: Ukraine is one of your markets, not the main one. Then apps for Nova Poshta or Ukrainian payments are an acceptable price for going global.

When Turboshop is the better choice

We built Turboshop for businesses that earn in Ukraine, and that is where the difference lies:

  • Selling in Ukraine. Nova Poshta, delivery services and Ukrainian online payments are built in — no searching for an app and checking whether it is still maintained.
  • Marketplaces out of the box. Feeds to Prom, Rozetka, Kasta and Epicentr from the Standart plan, with no separate charge per order volume. We described working with Prom and Rozetka separately.
  • Hryvnia subscription and 0% commission. Your annual platform budget is known in advance and depends neither on the exchange rate nor on turnover.
  • B2B. The Turbo plan includes a B2B portal with personal prices for dealers, without a separate enterprise platform.
  • TurboSklad. Inventory management from Pro, multi-warehouse and 1C exchange on Turbo. The store and stock levels live in one system.
  • Large catalogues. We tested the storefront with up to 300,000 products — see “A large catalogue without lag”.
  • Migration. Moving from another platform follows a dedicated procedure, and on Turbo we do it turnkey.
  • Three languages for the site and the admin panel, and readiness for AI search: structured data, llms.txt and direct answers in texts are part of the built-in store optimisation.
Turboshop integrations: shipping, online payments, CRM and feeds to the Prom, Rozetka, Kasta and Epicentr marketplaces
Turboshop integrations and marketplaces are part of the plans — no third-party apps required

Scenarios by niche

Clothing and footwear for Ukraine. Size and colour variants and a catalogue for Facebook and Instagram are already on Plus (416 UAH/month annually); once you add Rozetka and Kasta, you move to Standart. On Shopify the same set is assembled from a theme and apps for shipping, payments and marketplaces — each with its own invoice and its own support.

Electronics and car parts with a large catalogue. Tens of thousands of items, attribute filters, feeds to Prom and Epicentr, an API to sync with your supplier — that is Turboshop Pro (1,469 UAH/month annually) with no product limit. The Shopify pricing page states no product limit, but Ukrainian marketplaces there still connect through apps.

A manufacturer with a dealer network. Retail on the storefront plus personal dealer prices in the B2B portal, multi-warehouse, 1C exchange — the Turbo plan. On Shopify, enterprise features sit at the Plus level from €2,100/month, and Ukrainian dealer scenarios are still assembled from apps.

What if the brand is heading to Europe? Then, honestly: once export becomes the main share, Shopify may be the better fit. One option is to keep the Ukrainian store on Turboshop and launch the foreign one separately — the platforms do not get in each other’s way when the markets differ.

How to move from Shopify to Turboshop

The biggest fear when switching platforms is losing search rankings and spending weeks on the transfer. That is why we made migration a dedicated service, and on the Turbo plan we do it turnkey. Here is how it works:

  1. Create a store for free on the free start page — the plan is chosen at the end of the free period, so you pay nothing until you see the result.
  2. Export your catalogue from Shopify and hand it to us following the procedure on the migration page.
  3. Map old page addresses to new ones — this is what matters most for keeping your search rankings.
  4. On the Turbo plan we move the store turnkey: all that is left for you is to check the result and switch the domain.

FAQ

Can I use Shopify in Ukraine?

Shopify is a global platform that shows prices in the regional currency. Ukrainian shipping (Nova Poshta), payments and marketplaces such as Rozetka are not built in — they are connected through third-party apps. Before choosing, check whether the app you need exists, what it costs and who maintains it.

How much does Shopify cost in hryvnias?

We did not see a hryvnia plan on the Shopify page: prices are shown in the regional currency. In euros it is Basic €19, Grow €56, Advanced €289 per month billed annually (€27 / €74 / €384 monthly), Plus from €2,100/month. Convert at the rate on the day of payment and add payment and app fees. For comparison: Turboshop Basic is 250 UAH/month annually with a 0% platform commission.

Shopify vs WooCommerce — which is cheaper?

It depends on what you count. The WooCommerce licence is free; the Shopify subscription starts at €19/month annually. But on WooCommerce add hosting, SSL, backups, paid extensions and developer hours for updates and security. Compare the total cost of ownership per year, not “0 versus €19”.

OpenCart vs WooCommerce?

Both systems are free and work on the same principle: you are responsible for hosting, updates, security and extensions. Pick the one your developer knows — and put their support into the budget. If you do not want to turn your store into an IT project, look at a subscription platform instead.

Can I move my store from Shopify to Turboshop?

Yes. Create a store for free, hand over the catalogue following the migration procedure, and on the Turbo plan we do the transfer turnkey. Search rankings are preserved by a well-thought-out mapping of old and new addresses.

Summary

We built Turboshop so that a Ukrainian store does not have to be assembled from a dozen apps: Nova Poshta, payments, Prom and Rozetka, CRM, a B2B portal and inventory sit inside a hryvnia subscription with a 0% commission. Shopify remains a strong choice for global D2C, several countries and teams already living in its ecosystem. WooCommerce and OpenCart are for those who need the code and are ready to maintain the stack themselves. Choose by your primary market and an honestly counted total cost of ownership — and you will not have to move again in a year.
